Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez , 37-0,-(25) retained his WBO super middleweight title Saturday night at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas by scoring a routine sixth round tko win over WBO No.4 ranked Habib Ahmed ,22-1-(17). The fight was stopped after 2.31 when by referee Laurence Cole decided Ahmed was taking too much punishment without offering any firepower in return.
In the joint main event IBF junior bantamweight titleholder Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas, 27-1-1-(19), retained his crown with a 10th round knockout over Israel Gonzalez, 20-2-(8).
Ancajas decked Gonzalez in the opening round and twice in the 10th before the fight was stopped after 1:50.
On the undercard WBO No.1 ranked Jesse Hart, 23-1-(19) took just 1.28 of round one to destroy Thomas Awimbono, 24-8-1-(20). Awimbono was down twice, once from a right uppercut and after with right and left hand.
Also in action was former WBA interim super lightweight champion Jose Benavidez Jr. 26-0, (17), who returned after a long lay off to score an eighth round tko win over Matthew Strode, 24-6-(9).
