Prenice Brewer to face Patrick Lopez on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights

Fri 30-Jul-2010 04:25

CLEVELAND, OH - Undefeated junior welterweight prospect Prenice Brewer heads to Chicago, Illinois on Friday, August 6th to face Patrick Lopez in the eight round co-main event on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights at the UIC Pavilion.

The 22 year old Brewer, born and raised in Cleveland , brings a record of 15-0-1 with six knockouts into battle against the Londonberry, New Hampshire native Lopez, 19-2-0 (11KO’s).

Brewer is coming off a very successful ESPN2 appearance, looking terrific in a six round unanimous decision win over Christopher Fernandez on March 19th.

After a spirited training session with stable mate and fellow undefeated prospect Willie Nelson, Brewer spoke about his upcoming bout against Lopez.

“I’ve seen six of Lopez’s fights, he’s an aggressive fighter, always coming forward and punching. My job will be to use my jab to dictate the pace, keep him on the outside and frustrate him with my hand speed” said the 6 foot tall Brewer.

About coming to Chicago and fighting on ESPN, Brewer stated, “I’ve got a great deal of family in Chicago so it will be nice to perform in front of them. I received a terrific amount of positive feedback from my last appearance on ESPN and look forward to showcasing my skills for the fans at the venue and those watching at home.”

Brewer started his pro career in 2006 with a four round draw in his first bout, winning the subsequent fifteen. His outstanding amateur career culminated in a first place finish in the 2005 National Golden Gloves.

“The guys I look up to are Roy Jones, Pernell Whitaker and Floyd Mayweather, I’m a smart technical boxer and I want to be a great champion, just like each of them.”

Brewer is promoted by St. Louis ’ Rumble Time Promotions and DiBella Entertainment.

Said Steve Smith of Rumble Time Promotions, “Prenice brings everything a future champion needs to the table. Lou and I call him the “Matrix” because he has such excellent boxing skills and movement in the ring combined with very fast hands. The fans in Chicago and those watching on ESPN2 are in for a real treat.”

ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights is presented by Chicago ’s 8 Count Productions in association with Vega Boxing.

Advance tickets, starting at $31 are available through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com), the UIC Pavilion Box Office (312-413-5740) and the 8 Count Productions’ Office (312-226-5800).

Doors on the evening of the event will open at 7pm with the first bell at 8pm. The UIC Pavilion is located at 525 S. Racine , just one block south of the Eisenhower Expressway.
