Unbeaten heavyweight contender Joseph Parker,21-0-(18), stayed on course for a world title shot on Saturday by knocking Alexander Dimitrenko, 38-3-(24), in the third round at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau, New Zealand.
Parker knocked Dimitrenko down times, once in the first round with a left hook and right cross then again twice more in round two. Dimitrenko hit the deck for the fourth time in round three before the fight was stopped after 1.38.
Parker is the mandatory contender for Anthony Joshua’s IBF title but there could also be an opportunity for Parket to face Andy Ruiz for the vacant WBO heavyweight title if Tyson Fury is stripped of his title.
On the same card heavyweight prospect Izuagbe Ugonoh, 17-0-(14) scored a second round tko win over journeyman Gregory Tony , who was decked three times before the fight was stopped.
