Pacquiao Has No Shortage Of Challengers To Fight For His Title

After destroying Lucas Matthysse to claim the WBA welterweight title in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Sunday Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao will have no shortage of challengers to defend his newly won crown against.

Despite being 39 years young, ‘Pacman’ managed to dominate the Argentine born champion and still has plenty of ambition left.

The problem Mr Pacquiao has now is, who does he chooses to fight next? What he should do is Face WBA super champ Keith Thurman to establish the rightful king at 147lbs but it is more likely he will look to secure more high profile and profitable opposition in the shape of Britain’s Amir Khan, pound for pound king Vasyl Lomachenko or seek rematch and redemption in a big money fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Speaking after scoring an impressive stoppage win over Matthysse, Pacquiao said: “Yes that’s a potential opponent Amir Khan.

“There’s a lot of potential opponents there, like Lomachenko, there are so many fighters that have potential to be my opponent next.”

Pacquiao dropped a clear 12 round unanimous decision to Mayweather in 2015 but would welcome a rematch: “Mayweather? If he decides to go back to boxing then that is the time we are going to call the shots. I have the belt, so it’s up to him. If he wants to come back in boxing let’s do a second one.
