By Dmitry Mossienko : Oleg Malynovsky will defend his WBO featherweight European Championship this Saturday, 12 November 2016.
He weighted in the weight limit, while his opponent, 30 year old Nikaraguan Eusebio Osejo failed to do so. As a result the Spanish based Nicaraguan will forfeit his opportunity to win the belt.
After more than two hours of additional effort to make weight, Osejo, who is believed to be the cousin of former world champ Ricardo Mayorga, was still 2kilos overweight.
According to the WBO regulation, in case of Malynovsky win or draw, he retains the belt, while in case of an Osejo victory the belt should be vacated.
Osejo is a rugged journeyman, whose previous fight was in Russia against local former IBF featherweight Champion Evgeny Russo Mexicano Gradovich.
Fighting in Gradovich backyard Osejo lost a split decision having decked his Russian opponent in round twoof their clash in Chelyabinsk Traktor sports palace, but also having lost all last rounds..
