Nielsen To Defend Title Against Fragomeni

Micki Nielsen (20-0, 14 KOs) will defend his WBC International Cruiserweight title against former World Champion Giacobbe Fragomeni (33-5-2, 13 KOs) on March 19 at the Albertslund MusikTeatret in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The new date and venue comes following the postponement of the February 6 Nordic Fight Night due to an injury sustained by rising featherweight star Dennis Ceylan, who will undergo surgery on his left hand.

Instead, the Albertslund MusikTeatret will play host to the Nordic Fight Night for a fourth-time, with the youngest of the two boxing Nielsen brothers taking top billing in his hometown arena.

‘’I’m looking forward to fighting at home in Albertslund,’’ said Nielsen. ‘’The fans are among the best in the world, and will create a special atmosphere usually only seen in football stadiums. I want to repay their support with an exciting fight, and I promise, I will not disappoint them.’’

The undefeated 22 year-old faces a tough task defending his WBC International title against Fragomeni – a former WBC World Champion who has been involved in multiple title fights during his illustrious career.

‘’Fragomeni is a good boxer and an opponent I have to take very seriously,’’ said the hard-hitting southpaw. ‘’I’ve started the year training hard, and my coach Joey Gamache has already begun studying videos of him. I will make sure I’m in the best shape of my life on March 19, and ready to defend my title.

‘’I can feel that things are getting serious for me now, and it’s time for me to step up. I want to prove that I’m ready to fight the best in the division. There is no doubt that this is an exciting challenge for me, and a fight that can lead to even bigger challenges.’’
