Nery Wins But Loses/Iwasa Wins Big In Tokyo

Luis Nery improved his unbeaten record to 26-0-(20),and dropped former champ Shinsuke Yamanaka, 27-2-2-(19), four times on his way to a second round tko win in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday but he will not take home the WBC bantamweight crown.

At yesterday’s weigh in for the vacant WBC crown Neary weighed 3lbs over the 118lbs limit so victory meant the title remains vacant. For the record Yamanaka weighed 117lbs.

Yamanka was decked once in the first round and three times in the second before the fight was stopped after 1.03 of the second session.

In the co main event IBF junior bantamweight champ Ryosuke Iwasa retained his title via 12 round unanimous decision against Filipino Ernesto Saulong. The scores were 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110.
