Murray Plans To Be A Nightmare For Kassam

Joe Murray (17-2, 7 KOs) says he will be a nightmare opponent for Rashid ‘The Dream’ Kassem (11-0, 7 KOs) when they meet tomorrow night at the Arena Nord in Frederikshavn.

The former amateur star, who won a Bronze medal at the 2007 World Amateur Championships in Chicago and competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, believes his experience will prove too much for the undefeated Dane.

‘’He calls himself ‘The Dream’ but I will definitely be his nightmare,’’ says Murray.

‘’I’ve watched some of his fights. He looks like a good boxer and he has a bit of power, but it’s nothing I’ve not seen before. I think my experience is going to play a massive part in this fight. Kassem hasn’t fought anyone as pro, all his opponents have been hand picked, and now he’s in with a real live wire.

‘’I’ve fought all over the World against some of the best amateurs, so when the opportunity came to fight Kassem in Denmark, I took it with both hands.

‘’If I need to box, I can box, if I need to stand and fight, then I can go to war. Either way, I’ll be ready for whatever he brings to the table.’’

Murray’s meets Kassem on the undercard of the European Featherweight title fight between Dennis Ceylan and Ryan Walsh, and the 29 year-old from Manchester expects it to be a good night for the travelling British fighters.

‘’When British fighters go abroad we don’t go to make up the numbers,’’ he says. ‘’I think they’ve picked the wrong two Brits to go to Denmark. I’ve boxed Ryan’s brother Liam before, so I know their mentality and I know what they’re all about. We will both be going over there to make a big statement.’’

Dennis Ceylan’s European title fight with Ryan Walsh tops a blockbuster bill at the Arena Nord in Frederikshavn on October 15. Rashid Kassem faces his toughest career test against British boxer Joe Murray, Abdul Khattab takes on Bartlomiej Grafka, Dina Thorslund faces Oksana Romanova, and professional debutant Mikkel Mielsen meets Andrei Dolhozhyieu.
