Britain’s nearly man Martin Murray,37-4-1-(17), secured possibly another world title shot at the 02 in London on Saturday night by out-pointing WBC silver middleweight champion Roberto Garcia.
Murray, who may now become the mandatory challenger to world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, triumphed by scores of 116-111,118-109 and 118-108. Garcia was deducted two points in rounds two and nine.
Murray has previously fallen short in four world title attempts, Felix Sturm(12 round draw), Sergio Martinez(pts 12), Gennady Golovkin (tko 11) and Arthur Abraham(pts 12).
In other action heavyweight prospect Daniel Dubois, 8-0-( 8), scored a fifth round tko win over Tom Little, 10-6-(3), to claim the vacant English heavyweight title.
In a light heavyweight bout Anthony Yarde went 16-0-(15), stopping Dariuz Sek, 27-4-3-(9).Yarde decked the overmatched Polish boxer in the first round before the fight was stopped after 2.17
In a junior welterweight bout Ohara Davies, 18-1-(14) knocked out WBC International champ Paul Kamanga in the second of a scheduled 10 round bout.
