WBC light flyweight champ Ganigan Lopez, 27-6-(17) retained his title Saturday night at the Arena Coliseo in Mexico City with a tougher than expected 12 round unanimous points win over Jonathan Taconing, 22-2-1-(18) .
Lopez and Taconing both readed punches in equal measure but Lopez won the day by scores of 115-112, 118-109 and 119-108. Taconing was deducted a point in the eighth round for illegal use of the head.
On the same card former WBC light flyweight king Pedro Guevara scored an eighth round tko win over Ruben “Huracan” Montoya . The scores were 78-72, 79-75 and 80-74. The bout was stopped after an unintentional headbutt.
