Liebenberg Arrives In Stockholm

Ryno Liebenberg (17-2, 12 KOs) has arrived in Sweden today ready for his fight with Erik Skoglund (24-0, 11 KOs) on Saturday night at the Hovet in Stockholm.

The South African fighter has wasted no time making his feelings known. ‘’I think Skoglund is overrated,’’ he says. ‘’He has never fought anyone good. He has a record of 24-0 and a top-ten World ranking that he doesn’t deserve. I thought Swedes were tough Vikings, but clearly I’m wrong. I’m looking forward to showing Sweden what a real fighter is!

’’Erik is the exact opposite of a tough Viking. He is just a pretty face. A poster boy. I saw he posted a video on Facebook the other day playing guitar and I couldn’t help laughing. Is he serious? Am I fighting Justin Bieber or should I call him Erik Bieber?

‘’Sweden has banned boxing for decades, but on Saturday night, people in Stockholm will finally see the real deal, and it has nothing to do with Erik and the way he boxes. It will probably shock a lot of the fans who have never seen a real fight before!’’

The 31 year-old, who has previously boasted of being involved in over one hundred street-fights, believes his tough background will give him an advantage over Skoglund, who saves his fighting for the ring.

‘’Skoglund says he’s never been in a street fight,’’ said Liebenberg. ‘’I’ve enjoyed more than one hundred. This brings me further in this sport than Erik acting like a gentleman, and it’s nonsense to claim otherwise.

‘’I’m here to fight, and it will be a dogfight, whether Erik likes it or not. If he approaches this fight like a gentleman, I will smash him to the canvas and then you will hear me roar through the noise of the disappointed fans!’’

Erik Skoglund faces Ryno Liebenberg as part of a blockbuster bill in the Swedish capital on April 23. Mikaela Lauren defends her WBC Female World Super Welterweight title against former World Champion Ivana Habazin, Klara Svensson rematches Lucia Morelli, the ‘Golden Boy’ Oscar Ahlin faces the ‘Tiger’ Patrick Mendy and Otto Wallin takes on the big punching Brazilian Irineu Beato Costa Junior.
