Joshua Could Defend Title In China

According to promoter Barry Hearn, Anthony Joshua could defend his IBF heavyweight title at the famous Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing, China.

The 26 year-old Englishman propelled himself to superstar status last month when he destroyed American Charles Martin inside a couple of rounds to claim the title and Hearn is keen to showcase Joshua’s talent worldwide.

"When you plan someone’s career like Joshua you tend to plan in advance and I think we’re two years away from saying we can sell out the Bird’s Nest(91,000 capacity) in China," Hearn told Sky Sports.

"I think Joshua’s going to be a global figure, and therefore I’ve got to give him a global platform. I was in Shanghai last week and we were talking. As soon as you show people pictures of Joshua knocking someone out, they get excited."

One opponent that could be in the frame is the 2008 Olympic silver medalist Zhang Zhilei. However, before Joshua can even think about fighting in China he must successfully defend his title against Dominic Breazeale on June 25
