Ioka Retains WBA Crown/Guzman Claims Vacant IBF Title

WBA flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka, 20-1-(12), retained his title by defeating Nicaraguan Keyvin Lara, 18-2-1-(6), via a hard fought 11th tko in Osaka, Japan on Wednesday.

 

Lara made a positive start early on but Ioka decked Lara twice before stopping the challenger after 1.11 of the 11th round

 

In the co feature Jonathan Guzman, 22-0-1NC-( 22), 121, from Dominican Republic, claimed the vacant IBF super bantamweight title after decking the brave but outgunned Shingo Wake, 20-5-2-(12), four times, twice in the second and once in the third and fifth rounds. The fight was stopped after 2.16 of the 11th round. It was brave display by Wake but Guzman possessed too much firepower.
