Holly Holm Wins Second WBF World Title

Holly “The Preachers Daughter” Holm

Pound-For-Pound number-one female boxer Holly “The Preachers Daughter” Holm captured her second World Boxing Federation World championship on Friday night, December 7, in Albuquerque, New Mexico when she won a unanimous decision over game Australian Diana Prazak at the Route 66 Casino Hotel to lift the vacant World Light Welterweight title.
31-year-old Southpaw Holm, already the reigning WBF World Champion at Welterweight, improved her outstanding professional record to 32-2-3 (9), while Los Angeles-based Prazak lost for the first time since her debut in March 2010 and falls to 11-2 (7).
With World Light Middleweight Champion Austin Trout, fresh off his impressive victory over Puerto Rican icon Miguel Cotto in New York last Saturday, watching from ringside, Holm took charge from the first bell and used her wonderful boxing skills to control, and at times dominate, Prazak.
Holm worked well with her one-two combinations, and showed some nice body-punching, while Prazak tried hard to close the distance and work on the inside, but never found a way to seriously threaten the local favorite. It was an entertaining bout, but it became clear early on that Prazak would have to stop Holm to win.
After ten rounds of boxing, judges John Schorle, Sandy Pino Martinez and Chris Wilson all scored the bout a shut-out 100-90 in favor of Holly Holm, but it was a more exiting fight than the scores indicate. The fight, billed as “Fire And Ice”, was promoted by Fresquez Productions in association with Route 66 Casino Hotel.
