By Ron Valderrama : Arif "The Predator" Magomedov faced Andrew "The Hurricane" Hernandez in a scheduled 10 round bout for the vacant WBC USNBC Middleweight title last night, the event was presented by RJJ Boxing and was televised on CBS Sports Network.

The action was immediate in round 1, making it a tough round to score, both fighters throwing punches and counter well. A well prepared Hernandez made a statement in round 2, mixing up combinations and winning the round. In round 3, Hernandez worked the body and combinations and stunned Magomedov, but the Russian survived and showed his toughness. As round 6 started, it was clear that both fighters were taking punches. Slight swelling on both fighters was proof of the blows each fighter was taking. Hernandez continued working the body and kept up the combinations. Magomedov did not fade, countering well with every punch thrown by Hernandez. Round 7 was owned by Hernandez, a blistering uppercut stunned Magomedov followed by combinations that should have dropped him. Magomedov just would not fall and managed to survive the round.

Magomedov stayed busy in round 9, landing some crushing blows on Hernandez. A little rally by Hernandez with a barrage of body shots late in the round. The final round was just as action-packed as the first, both fighters showing tremendous stamina. Mogomedov was dropped by a hard right by Hernandez but survived the count. In the end, the judges score the bout 100-89 x 2 and 98-91, giving the unanimous decision win to Andrew "Hurricane"

Hernandez won the WBC USNBC Middleweight title. After the fight, Hernandez spoke with Secondsout.com and stated he injured his right ankle in round 3 and was in obvious pain. The medical team was waiting for the interview to finish so they could transport him to the hospital for evaluation. Hernandez also stated that he credited his win to his corner, Jose Benavidez Sr. and coach, Carlos Alvarez. It was clear that Hernandez was at the top of his game, he was prepared and ready for this opportunity.

In the co-main event, John "The Phenom" Vera faced Joey "Boxer" Ruelas tonight in Las Vegas for the NABA-USA Super Welterweight Title. The scheduled 8 round bout did not disappoint as the two warriors wasted little time trading blows. Ruelas took some shots in round 1 but proved he has a solid chin. In round 2, the action was stopped for a few moments due to a low blow delivered by Ruelas.

Vera quickly recovered and the action continued. In round 3, Ruelas seemed to come to life and landed the more effective punches. Round 4 was a close round to score, both fighters threw effective punches and countered well. An aggressive Vera started round 5 with some solid punches, landing clean and crisp shots on Ruelas. At the end of the round, Ruelas finished strong with some good counter shots. Sadly, the end would come to an end for Ruelas in round 6, Vera landed consecutive punches, but a tough Ruelas would not quit. Referee Jay Nady stepped in and stopped the bout, perhaps too early. The official time of the stoppage was 1:17 of round 6 giving John Vera the TKO win.
