News was announced that the on-and-off again rematch between World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Middleweight Champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (38-0-1, 34KO’s) and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-2, 34KO’s) is on for September 15th in Las Vegas.

Oscar De La Hoya took to social media to announce the news, saying “I’m happy to inform that we have a fight September 15!!!!”

The fight was on-again, off-again numerous times the last few months as Canelo tested positive twice for the banned substance clenbuterol.

The first match was highly controversial as it ended in a draw but saw judge Adalaide Byrd score the bout 118-110 for Canelo, which was too many rounds in the eyes of the fans and viewing audience and caused her to take a leave of absence from the sport.

Now, with the rematch on the horizon almost exactly one year after the first fight, fans can get excited for the biggest bout in boxing at the moment as it looked for a while like this one may slip through the cracks. Not the case – get excited for the middleweight showdown!
