George Groves Requests One Month Fight Extension Against Callum Smith
WBA super middleweight champion George Groves has confirmed that he will have minor surgery on his injured shoulder today and will ask the organisers of the World Boxing Super Series to move his final date against Callum Smith from June 2 until sometime in July.
Groves injured his shoulder during his 12 round points win over Chris Eubank Jr a few weeks ago and will put in a request for a month’s delay to recover.
Groves tweeted: "Morning boxing fans. This morning I go in for a minor operation on my injured shoulder. The good news is I’ll be fit to fight in the final in July.
"We will be applying to the @WBSuperSeries for a one-month extension and are hopeful of securing this."
