Craig Cunningham scored a huge upset over Anthony Ogogo to win the vacant WBC International middleweight title at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham, England on Saturday night.

Cunningham started the fight well and quickly took control before decking the unsteady Ogogo with a right hook in the second round. Cunningham continued to pile on the pressure and slowly break Agogo down in the third and fourth rounds.

Ogogo stepped up the pace in the fifth round in a bid to regain some kind of foothold on the fight but he failed to nail Cunningham with few clean punches. Cunningham continued march forward in the sixth round and pressure Agogo, which had the Norfolk based fighter in all sorts of trouble. By the end of the sixth and most of the seventh Cunningham was catching Agogo at will

The end came in the eighth round, with Ogogo’s trainer Tony Sims pulled him out to hand Cunningham a well deserved victory.

Speaking to Sky Sports afterwards Cunningham said: "I love being the underdog, nothing fazes me.

"I had to check how quick he actually was. I fancied myself as a counter-puncher. My knockout record isn’t great but if I catch someone, they’re going to go. You can’t teach heart, can you?"

On the action on the Matchroom Sport promoted card Sean Davis outpointed Paul Economides to claim the WBC International Super Bantamweight title, former British champion Brian Rose outpointed Stilyan Kostov over six rounds and Don Broadhurst beat Louis Norman via split decision to win the English super-flyweight title
