Chilemba Feels Disrespected

Isaac Chilemba has accused WBA/IBF and WBO light heavyweight Sergey Kovalev of disrespecting him prior to his title world title challenge in Ekaterinburg on July 11.

The 29-year-old African is convinced that he upset the odds and become the first African fighter to win three world titles in one night but is incensed that the big punching Russian has already penciled in a title defence against ubeaten American Andre Ward in Las Vegas on November 19.

Speaking to South African newspaper Sowetan, Chilemba said: "Clearly they see me as a stepping stone and that’s total disrespect.

"They are looking past me when we have not fought which means they see me as just a sparring partner. I am now going out there with more reason to beat this guy.

"I am going to teach him some manners and in the process make history by becoming the first African fighter to win three titles in one night."
