WBA junior welterweight champion Ricky Burns, 41-5-1-(14), retained his title with a 12round unanimous decision win over Kiryl Relikh, 21-1-(19) at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland on Friday.

Whilst the local fighter was the busier of the two Relikh continued to pushed forward and force the pace of the fight. At end of 12 hard fought rounds Burns was judged the winner on all three judges scorecards. The scores were 118-110 and 116-112, twice. It now looks like Burns could defend his title against controversial American Adrien Broner.

On the same Matchroom Sport promoted card Dillian Whyte, 19-1-(15), not only claimed the vacant British heavyweight title but also bragging rights as the best heavyweight in Brixton, south London when he scored a 10th round tko win over Ian Lewison, 12-3-1-(8). Whyte controlled the action throughout until Lewison’s corner pulled out inbetween rounds.

In another British title fight, lightweight champ Scott Cardle, 21-0-1-(7), retained his title with a sixth round tko over Kevin Hooper, 19-4-(4). The end came when Cardle unloaded a series of unanswered punches to get the stoppage.
