Boxing Legend Bobby Chacon Passes Away

It has been reported that former world boxing champion Bobby Chacon passed away early on Wednesday in South California, he was 64 year-old

Bobby was born on November 28, 1951 in Sylmar, CA, Chacon turned pro in Los Angeles in 1972. With explosive punching power, he knocked out 23 of his first 25 opponents. Chacon won world titles in two weight divisions, reigning as WBC featherweight (1974-75) and the WBC super featherweight (1982-83) champion. “Schoolboy” Chacon holds wins over Chucho Castillo, Alfredo Marcano, Rafael “Bazooka” Limon, Freddie Roach, Arturo Frias and Hall of Famers Danny “Little Red” Lopez and Ruben Olivares. His pro records stands at 59-7-1 (47KOs).

“One of the West Coast’s top ring attractions, with his all-action, aggressive ring style, Bobby Chacon was a true fan favorite,” said Hall of Fame Executive Director Edward Brophy. “The Hall of Fame joins the worldwide boxing community in mourning his passing and offer our condolences to his family.”

Chacon reportedly suffered a head injury after falling at a Hemet care facility early Wednesday morning and never recovered, Ricky Farris, president of the West Coast Boxing Hall of Fame reported to the LA Times.
