By D.Mossienko at ringside: Klitschko brothers promotional powerhouse K2 held on 16 December 2017 an exciting boxing night in the Kiev suburb of Browary.

Fight for the vacant WBO Oriental Lightweight Title between the local London Olympic finalist Denis Berynchyk (7-0) and Filipino Allan Vallespin (12-1) headlined the boxing card and proved all the expectations. Vallespin stepped into the ring full of confidence, as even despite the jet lag and 6 hours time difference between Filipins and Ukraine, he appeared determined to claim the belt. He had no problem making weight (60.4kg) as most of his career was in lighter weight categories). Meanwhile Berynchik, who weighed (61.0kg) came to the ring in his famous fashion, always some new costume. This time he came wearing the costume of Moscow Olympic games bear talisman and to the tunes of Estonian singer Jaak Joala, singing very popular Olympic song. “I love Olympic idea and really enjoyed this show along with my coach Dennis Perch, who carried the real Olympic torch from Kiev museum!” – Dennis Berynchik explained later.

Meanwhile the fight started with a lot of movement and very fast jabbing from both sides. Berinchyk changed his stance, while Vallespin showed little respect to the local hero and landed several quality jabs and right swing in the first stanza.

In round two Berinchyk started taking initiative more often and in one of the episodes where he changed stance to the southpaw he landed a very solid leftt hook which sent Vallespin reeling and the Filipino would most likely go down, should not he be supported by the ropes. The judge would not open count, but Berinchyk obviously solidified his confidence. His good footwork and leading front hand jabs from both stances somewhat confused his Filipino opponent.

Yet after the break Filipino came back very encouraged and started pressing Ukrainian opponent. By the middle of the round though, Berinchyk managed to slow down his opponent. Their intensive exchanges with fake and real punches made the audience of Ice Terminal Palace in Browary watching the fight with open mouth impression! Even the third man in the ring referee di Giovanni sleeped and fell without a punch. He was swiftly up on his feet showing: I’m OK!

Meanwhile Berinchyk was spending increasingly more time in the southpaw, making Filipino miss and swing widely without purpose, but yet, Vallespin continued to keep his pressure on Ukrainian, as he had clear understanding, that winning in Berinchyk’s back yard requires active action in order to impress the judges and the audience!

In round five Berinchyk sent a solid left hook to the head of Vollespin, and then a follow up – another left hand with changing stance. This sent Filipino to the ground. He stood up and kept fighting, however in round 6, fighting again as southpaw, dropped Filipino for count!

In another most important fight of the evening WBO featherweight European champion Oleg Malinovski defended his title in a clash against against danferous Hungarian Ko artis David Berna. As usually, Malinowski started the fight carefully, while Berna tried to establish his foot, Malinowski was fencing with his right leading jab well.

All of a sudden in one of exchanges when yet one minute remained till the end of the round Malinowski caught the opponent with a hook to the tample which sent Berna to the ground for count. This came as a very unexpected ending to this long expected contention, as it was Berna who is known as a KO artist in this weight division.
