Each week, Gerry will answer as many of your questions as he can on the SiriusXM radio show, “Friday Night at The Fights,” a show that Gerry co-hosts with Randy “The Commish” Gordon, the former Chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission.
The show airs every Friday on Sirius channel 92 and XM channel 208 from 6 – 8 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
Our first question comes from Billy D., who asks:
Gerry, it was great to see boxing on network TV again! Once again we had a controversial decision but my question is: How important is it for boxing to be back on network TV?
Our next question comes from Buddy M., who asks:
Gerry, how do you see the upcoming fight between Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero? Do you think Guerrero will be a challenge to Mayweather?
Gerry answered the following questions on last week’s show:
Our first question came from Bernard Campbell, who asked:
Gerry, two weeks ago in the fight between Bryant Jennings and Bowie Tupou, Tupou knocked Jennings to the canvas in the third round. In what I believe was a politically motivated move, the ref [Blair Talmadge] ruled it a slip and maybe that influenced the way each fighter fought after that. Even though Jennings ended up knocking Tupou out in the fifth round, shouldn’t the ref be
negatively sanctioned for blowing the call?
Gerry did not feel Talmadge should be sanctioned and pointed out that refs sometimes make mistakes and it should be chalked up to human error.
Our next question came from Teddy B., who asked:
Gerry, it seems like Roy Jones Jr. is going to be the new color commentator for HBO. What do you think of him as a commentator?
Gerry feels that Roy does a good job and adds a nice element primarily because he is a fighter and has a unique perspective as to what he’s seeing.
