Each week, Gerry will answer as many of your questions as he can on the Sirius XM radio show “Friday Night at The Fights,” which Gerry co-hosts with Randy “The Commish” Gordon, former Chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission.
The show airs every Friday on Sirius Sport Zone Channel 92 from 6-8 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
Our first question comes from Bobby L., who asks:
Gerry, Floyd Mayweather is fighting again on September. Do you think he should fight Amir Khan or should he give a rematch to Marcos Maidana?
Our next question comes from Charlie B., who asks:
Gerry, why do you think boxing is not a high school or college sport? Aren’t football, lacrosse, wrestling and other contact sports just as dangerous?
Gerry answered the following questions on last week’s show:
Our first question came from Ronnie F., who asked:
Gerry, I’m hearing that the WBA is forcing Gennady Golovkin to defend his middleweight title against someone named Jarrod Fletcher. I’ve never heard of him. Do you know anything about him?
Gerry does not know much about Fletcher and would much rather see Golovkin fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at super middleweight.
Our next question came from Terry G., who asked:
Gerry, there’s some chatter about Oscar De la Hoya training Marcos Maidana if Maidana fights Floyd Mayweather again. Do you think that would be a good or a bad thing?
Gerry pointed out that De la Hoya was a great fighter who also lost to Mayweather, so he’s not sure what he could bring to the table on how Maidana could defeat him.
