Each week, Gerry will answer as many of your questions as he can on the Sirius XM radio show, “Friday Night at The Fights,” a show that Gerry co-hosts with Randy “The Commish” Gordon, the former Chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission.
The show airs every Friday on Sirius channel 92 and XM channel 208 from 6 – 8 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
Our first question comes from Pat V., who asks:
Gerry, I watched the fight between Malik Scott and Vyacheslav Glazkov on NBC last week and the fight was ruled a draw. I had Scott way ahead and was once again shocked at the outcome. Did you see the fight and, if so, how did you score it?
Our next question comes from Jose Q., who asks:
Gerry, I think that Robert Guerrero has a good chance against Floyd Mayweather if he can stay on top of him and rough him up, taking him out of his comfort zone. How much of a chance do you give “The Ghost” in this one?
Gerry answered the following questions on last week’s show:
Our first question came from Ricky T., who asked:
Hey, Gerry, it looks like Floyd Mayweather jumped from HBO to Showtime. How much do you think that will affect both networks and in what way?
Gerry doesn’t feel it will affect either network too drastically because there are so many good fighters out there now fighting on each network. But the big pay-per-view numbers for Mayweather will now be shared by Showtime.
Our next question came from Bernard Campbell, who asked:
How come WBA featherweight champ Chris John gets no meaty featherweight fights? What causes this to happen in boxing?
Gerry once again pointed out that the politics involved in boxing sometimes have a lot to do with this type of inactivity.
