Alvarado, Korobov And Vera Hit The Scales

By Marc Livitz in Dallas, TX: Veterans as well as ring rookies will make up the vast majority of a night of boxing tomorrow as Top Rank Promotions showcases an eleven fight "Solo Boxeo" card, which is set to take place at the Bomb Factory in the Deep Ellum District of downtown Dallas.

Highlighting the evening is a slated eight round welterweight contest featuring former WBO light welterweight champion, "Mile High" Mike Alvarado of Denver, Colorado. Alvarado is looking to make the climb back up the rankings after having lost four of his last six fights, most notably twice to Brandon Rios but with brave outings against Ruslan Provodnikov and Juan Manuel Marquez as well. In the opposite corner, he’ll find Jose Torres of Albuquerque, N.M.

The evening’s co-main event however may hold the night’s most intriguing matchup, as it features hard punching Matt Korobov (Florida by way of Russia) against hard charging, crowd pleasing Brian Vera of Austin, TX. Their respective clash will take place in the middleweight division with a contacted limit of 163 lbs.

The main bouts are set to be televised on the UniMas network in the United States (11PM ET/PT). Weights directly from the scales at the Sheraton DFW Airport are listed below.
