Boxing and poker – maybe a start on something new?

Even though both sports are known for intense action and rough characters, boxing and poker aren’t usually combined. This didn’t stop Gus Hansen (known as one of the biggest full tilt poker names)and Danish poker pro Theo Jorgensen from duking it out. Both know as skilled poker players in both the online poker and live tournament circuit, did quite well as shown in the video.

2017 Maxboxing fight of the year: Anthony Joshua knocks out Wladimir Klitschko

The fight of the year for 2017 took place across the pond in April. The bout had all the classic components that make boxing so compelling and fascinating. The young man, with only 18 fights under his belt, would be taking on the former champion, who had held the heavyweight championship for over 10 years. The two had sparred a few years before. The older fighter took the younger man under his wing, mentoring him. They liked each other. By John J. Raspanti 2017 Maxboxing fight of the year: Anthony Joshua knocks out Wladimir Klitschko

Klitschko seeks redemption

Wladimir Klitschko has accomplished plenty as a boxer. He sports a record of 64-4, 53 KO’s, is a three-time world champion and defended his IBF version of the championship 18 times. Awesome credentials. Or are they? From a fan perspective, Klitschko is one of the most disrespected world champions of all time. I often think, is the scrutiny shoveled on Wlad’s resume justified? A Warrior’s heart with an old Man’s Body

By Benny Henderson Jr.: Anybody who follows any contact sport knows that it is a young man’s game. Professional football players rarely play on when they reach their mid to late thirties. The average age of a pro player is the mid-twenties. As you get older your skills start to decline, the speed goes first, your legs get weary, your back gets tired, the gas tank does not hold as much as it did when you were young. But the heart, the heart still beats strong, and with its desire, sometimes A Warrior’s heart with an old Man’s Body

MaxBoxing's Pound For Pound Rankings Update

By Matthew Hurley: The MaxBoxing pound-for-pound list for January 2015 consists of only one significant change. Although pound-for-pound lists are mythical and certainly debatable, inactivity counts against a fighter, no matter how talented, almost as much as a loss. In December we dropped super middleweight champion Andre Ward for inactivity. Ward has not fought since November of 2013 and still has nothing scheduled. He remains off the list... On the Move: SecondsOut World Rankings Nov-11-14

By Derek Bonnett: Bernard Hopkins lost and he lost badly. However, losing badly two months shy of fifty years of age is still pretty good. Especially when the lopsided unanimous decision scores came against, the new SecondsOut number one rated light heavyweight in the world, Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev, who is not exactly used to hearing the judges final tallies in his fights.
