Boxing and poker – maybe a start on something new?

Even though both sports are known for intense action and rough characters, boxing and poker aren’t usually combined. This didn’t stop Gus Hansen (known as one of the biggest full tilt poker names)and Danish poker pro Theo Jorgensen from duking it out. Both know as skilled poker players in both the online poker and live tournament circuit, did quite well as shown in the video.

Maxboxing Fight of the Year: Krzystof Glowacki stops Marco Huck

By John J. Raspanti: Last August at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, Marco Huck was on the cusp of defending his cruiserweight title for a record fourteenth consecutive time. And for 10 rounds, all three ringside judges had Huck leading gutsy Krzystof Glowacki by a combined seven points. Glowacki, though undefeated, wasn’t expected to give Huck much of a challenge. Things looked bleak for the Polish upstart when in Round six, a wide left hook brutally floored him. The fight was, Maxboxing Fight of the Year: Krzystof Glowacki stops Marco Huck

Behind on the scorecards, Glowacki upsets Huck

By John J. Raspanti: Though undefeated, Krtsztof Glowacki (25-0, 16 KOs) was given little chance of upsetting defending WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (38-3-1, 26 KOs) last Friday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Things looked bleak for the challenger when he found himself on his back in round six, courtesy of a wide left hand. But Glowacki, a star in Poland but little known in the United States, was hardly finished. Five rounds later, Glowacki stopped Huck in round 11 to Behind on the scorecards, Glowacki upsets Huck

5 Champs Who Will Remain and 5 Who Will Go in 2015

By Derek Bonnett: As we encounter another new year, the landscape of the boxing scene continues to evolve. With old champions acting out the final stages of their careers and new ones emerging to fill the void, boxing maintains a state of homeostasis and keeps fight fans intrigued even amid the dubious officiating and cries of scandal. Boxing, as always, will endure; however, not every participant with an alphabet title will be so lucky. Inevitably, the mighty will eventually fall and, 5 Champs Who Will Remain and 5 Who Will Go in 2015

Huck ties record with cruiserweight victory

The scores were 116-112 (twice) and a puzzling 118-110 all in favor of the defending champion. Maxboxing scored the bout 116-112 for Huck. With Nelson at ringside, Huck (38-2... Huck: “I will make spaghetti out of Larghetti”

By John J. Raspanti: WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck doesn’t fear unlucky numbers. This Saturday night at the Gerry Stadium in Halle/Westphalia, Germany, Huck will attempt to defend his title for the 13th time when he faces undefeated Italian challenger Mirko Larghetti. A victory by Huck will equal the number of defenses set by Johnny Nelson. The bout was originally scheduled for last March until Huck (37-2-1, 26 KOs), broke his thumb in training. The Human Highlight Reel

By Anson Wainwright (Photo © Golden Boy Promotions): Over the past decade or so, we’ve become accustomed to witnessing the likes of Carl Froch, Erik Morales, Brandon Rios and Company thrilling us regularly. The aforementioned trio are rarely if ever in anything other than barnburners. They’re can’t-miss-TV. It would be unfair not to mention several others who are also in thrill-a-minute bouts including Marco Huck, who for several years has shed blood to the behest of his German countrymen... By Steve Kim (Photo © Saul G. Azad Championship Report - Afolabi Faces Huck (Again)

By Steve Kim: While most of the boxing world’s attention is on the dueling cards taking place on HBO and Showtime, one of the more overlooked and underrated rivalries in recent years adds another chapter to its book when Ola Afolabi faces WBO cruiserweight beltholder Marco Huck in Berlin, Germany. They have faced each other twice, with Huck winning a close contest in December of 2009 and then last May, they fought to a disputed draw. The 2013 K9 Awards: Part Two

By Steve Kim: OK, before we move on, I was told by more than a few people that Josesito Lopez’s thrilling victory over Victor Ortiz and Rey Migreno’s shocking win over Pongsaklek Wonjongkam merited status in the “Upset of the Year” category.
