Boxing and poker – maybe a start on something new?

Even though both sports are known for intense action and rough characters, boxing and poker aren’t usually combined. This didn’t stop Gus Hansen (known as one of the biggest full tilt poker names)and Danish poker pro Theo Jorgensen from duking it out. Both know as skilled poker players in both the online poker and live tournament circuit, did quite well as shown in the video.

Azad Championship Report: The Weekend TV Cheat Sheet – Feb. 22, 2013

By Marty Mulcahey: Boxing fans are spoiled for choice this weekend with seven televised shows if widely available Spanish television networks are included in their viewing habits. This excess of action motivated me to try something new; instead of focusing on only one card, I am cherry-picking two world title fight main events since their undercards are lacking in either intrigue or competitiveness. I have been asked about other bouts this weekend as well and decided to make picks for other Azad Championship Report: The Weekend TV Cheat Sheet – Feb. 22, 2013

Kendall Holt: “This fight is a fight that can change my whole life.”

By Gabriel Montoya: This week’s edition of ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights from the D.C. Armory, former world champion Kendall Holt will try and regain his former glory by entering the lion’s den and taking on Lamont Peterson, 30-1-1, 15 knockouts, for the IBF junior welterweight title of the world. Not much about this fight will be easy for Holt. Not the year layoff, returning from shoulder surgery, the home canvas advantage Washington-native Peterson enjoys or being 31 in a weight class that is Kendall Holt: “This fight is a fight that can change my whole life.”

The 2011 K9 Awards: Part Two

By Steve Kim: After a short intermission (Trust me; this interlude isn’t nearly as long as some of the time that elapses between fights on the non-televised portions of undercards), we now conclude the annual “K9 Awards.” And in a year that saw a good deal of back-and-forth slugfests, we look back... Holt! Who Goes There?!

By Steve Kim (Photo © Gene Blevins - Hoganphotos/ Golden Boy Promotions): In what is perhaps the best pure match-up of the “Believe It or Not” pay-per-view bill from the Staples Center in Los Angeles this Saturday night, junior welterweights Kendall Holt and Danny Garcia square off in a pivotal fight. For Garcia, this truly is a step-up bout. He has just begun the process of moving up the ranks and... Holt! Who Goes There?!

Adamek's Last Hurdle Before Klitschko

By Steve Kim: If you’re looking for odds (for entertainment purposes only, of course) for the bout between Tomasz Adamek and Kevin McBride, you probably won’t find them as the fight isn’t listed on most boards.
