Boxing and poker – maybe a start on something new?

Even though both sports are known for intense action and rough characters, boxing and poker aren’t usually combined. This didn’t stop Gus Hansen (known as one of the biggest full tilt poker names)and Danish poker pro Theo Jorgensen from duking it out. Both know as skilled poker players in both the online poker and live tournament circuit, did quite well as shown in the video.

Golovkin’s Dilemma

By Matthew Hurley: With all the lunacy that goes on in boxing it’s always refreshing when a brilliant talent comes along. It’s even better when that fighter is a complete professional and a good guy to boot. Middleweight titlist Gennady Golovkin, or GGG as his fans call him, is turning into something special. A fighter who loves to perform, who pines for the big fight against anyone willing to step in the ring with him and who smiles like a young kid who can’t believe how great everything is Golovkin’s Dilemma

Golovkin drops the hammer

By John J. Raspanti: Prior to Gennady Golovkin’s three-round destruction of Daniel Geale, HBO commentator Max Kellerman remarked that he’s constantly asked if there’s any other fighter in boxing history who reminds him of the Kazakhstani bomber. His answer was surprising. In the past, Golovkin’s style has been compared to Hall of Fame inductee Julio Cesar Chavez, Sr. But Kellerman went back in history to the boxer who dominated his division and held the most prized... Golovkin dispatches Geale: Full Report

By Jason Gonzalez: Manhattan, NY - Coming into Saturday night’s showdown, Australia’s Daniel Geale appeared to be Gennady Golovkin’s stiffest foe, or so it seemed to be on paper. Alvarez chases Lara for 12 rounds before escaping with debatable win

By John J. Raspanti (Photo © German Villasenor): Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Erislandy Lara had something to prove last Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada. They had been arguing for months over who was the better fighter. So who won? Nobody. Alvarez proved that he comes to fight, but after 45 bouts, still doesn’t know how to cut off the ring. Lara can box beautifully at times, but also has a tendency to be more roadrunner than Tasmanian devil. Styles make Fights: Alvarez-Lara, The Aftermath

By Andrew Rivera (Photo © German Villasenor): So the Canelo Alvarez/ Erislandy Lara ended in a 12 round split decision win for Canelo, yes it was close and some may think Lara won, but in boxing these things will happen when you get a contrast in styles. This has happened throughout boxing history where an aggressive fighter like Canelo edges a slick fighter like Lara. I’ve seen on social media the divide on who won is split, some Canelo supporters say he won, some say Lara won... Styles make Fights: Alvarez-Lara, The Aftermath

Unforgettable Trash Talkers: Part: One

By Benny Henderson Jr.: I remember the old adage, “you can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?” Basically telling your foe to shut his mouth and start throwing dukes. And we as boxing fans have come across many great talkers in the game, some who were pretty much mouth, some, well, their hands were just as hard as their words. Throughout the years trash talking has become a sales pitch of sorts, in the minds of many, if bad blood is not brewing, it would appear that... Unforgettable Trash Talkers: Part: One
