Boxing and poker – maybe a start on something new?

Even though both sports are known for intense action and rough characters, boxing and poker aren’t usually combined. This didn’t stop Gus Hansen (known as one of the biggest full tilt poker names)and Danish poker pro Theo Jorgensen from duking it out. Both know as skilled poker players in both the online poker and live tournament circuit, did quite well as shown in the video.

More heartbreak for warrior Herrera

By John J. Raspanti: As he heard his opponent announced the winner, Mauricio Herrera didn’t blink. For even though he threw, and landed, more punches, and was consistently busier during the course of his 12-round bout with Jose Benavidez, Herrera had a sense of déjà vu as he waited for the decision. Last July, Herrera faced WBC, WBA, and The Ring junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia in the defending titleholders’ homeland of Puerto Rico. Herrera used movement, and his best weapon--his jab-- More heartbreak for warrior Herrera

HBO to help Canelo dethrone Floyd

Hispanic boxing fans are the best. They are vocal, they are supportive and they turn out in droves for their Mexican fighting heroes. So wouldn’t it be great for a Mexican fighter to take back the Cinco De Mayo and September Mexican holiday dates from the non-Mexican, Floyd Mayweather?... HBO to help Canelo dethrone Floyd

On the Move: December SecondsOut World Rankings

By Derek Bonnett: Typically, I reserve this space in my weekly On the Move column for a single thought. Usually, by the week’s end there is something burning on my mind that I just have to get out in the open regardless of the popularity of my comments. This week, as the end of 2014 draws near, I happen to have a lot I would like to get off my chest and felt the best method of delivery would be to just let it all hang out there for better or for worse, structure be damned. On the Move: MaxBoxing World Rankings

By Derek Bonnett (image by © icheehuahua, MaxBoxing): As most fans, I imagine, I like free boxing. I am not talking about free seats in press row either, but, take it from me, that’s the way to go. HBO and Showtime cost a small monthly fee, but might as well be free since I am paying for a larger package including movies and great dramatic series.
