Local favorite Alan Sanchez, 11-2-1-(5), scored a 10th round stoppage win over Manuel Leyva, 21-8-(12) at the Fairfield Sports Center in Fairfield, California on Saturday.
The bout ,which was fought at welterweight, saw Sanchez punish the brave but outgunned Leyva throughout the 10 rounds until referee Dan Stell finally stepped in after 1:46 of the 10th to save Leyva from further punishment.
On the undercard unbeaten super bantamweight Manuel “Tino” Avila, 9-0-(3), stopped Vicente Alfaro, 5-2-(1) in the third round. Avila scored a flash knockdown in round two, and another in the third session before the stoppage after 2:04 of the third.
In a super middleweight bout Paul Mendez stopped Loren Myers in the third round. In a welterweight bout Jonathan Chicas won a four round decision over Jose Mendoza and Joe Gumina won a four round verdict over Payton Boyea, in a heavyweight bout.
