By John J. Raspanti, Doghouse Boxing, reporting from Hollywood and Highland in Hollywood, California: Victor Ortiz and Josesito Lopez nearly began their bout a day early today. Their weigh-in became something more when Ortiz jumped on the scales first and later bumped and growled at Lopez. The Riverside fighter maintained his cool and glared back at Ortiz.
"It didn’t effect me at all," said Lopez to doghouseboxing.com after the weights were announced. "It’s part of the game. He’s trying to get inside my head and it’s not going to work."
Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya stepped between the two boxers as emotions bubbled to the top.
The fighters will be vieing for the WBC silver welterweight title June 23 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
