Kings Promotions returns to the Valley Forge Casino & Hotel in King of Prussia, PA, Friday night with heavyweights Travis Kauffman, 24-1 (18), of Reading, PA, and upset minded Arron Lyons, 12-12-1 (9), of Gulfport, MS, scheduled for 8 rounds in the main event.

Kauffman is the No. 13 WBA contender and said he’s "predicting a knockout," and so am I. So it could be a short fight. Lyons has defeated previously unbeaten Joey Abel and drew with Wilmer Vasquez, both 9-0 at the time. He also stopped Lenroy Thomas then 16-1 in 2010.

At a press conference Tuesday night at the VF Casino with promoter Marshall Kauffman, father of Travis, telling the crowd the original main event of Ryan Belasco and Niam Nelson was postponed due to a hand injury of Nelson. Belasco was offered Tevin “American Idol” Farmer but declined due to Farmer being a southpaw so he was pulled from the card.

The co-feature has Readings Frankie Santos DeAlba, 8-1-2 (3), against Philly southpaw Luis Esquillin, 2-5-1 (0), in a 6 round super featherweight match. DeAlba lost in his debut and has never looked back since. “I want to thank God for bringing me this far and look forward to fighting (after 2 boxers pulled out),” said DeAlba. This should be an entertaining match-up. DeAlba only had 9 amateur bouts while Esquillin was a PA GG champion.

In what promoter Kauffman said “rarely do two young boxers agree to fight one another with both having so much potential at this stage of their careers but Allen and Quinones should be one to see”. Sammy Omar Quinones, 2-1 (1), of York is coming down a few pounds while Philly’s Damon Allen, 2-0 (1), steps up a few with both camps agreeing on a 137 ½ catch weight. Quinones has won his last 2 fights and is a puncher while Allen with an outstanding amateur background is an excellent boxer. This 4 rounder could steal the show!

Also at the press conference were Miguel Cartagena, 7-0 (3), another Philly outstanding amateur and will meet Eduardo Melendez, 4-13 (1), of PR, in a scheduled bantamweight 4. Cartagena will be the ninth straight unbeaten boxer Melendez has fought. “I predict a knockout,” said Cartagena. He has recently signed with Mark Cipparone of Rocco’s Collision who was also present. He also manages Farmer.

The other Philly fighter is Khalib “Big Foot” Whitmore, 1-0 (0), taking on Richard McCombs, 1-4 (1), of DC. Whitmore is stepping up to cruiser while McCombs has always been at that weight. Whitmore was wearing his large Afro wig and gold chain which he wore into the ring to the delight of the crowd in his debut at VF Casino. “This time it will be a knockout for me,” said Whitmore. “Starting time will be 7:15 and after Big Foots fight the second fight will probably be 7:20,” said promoter Kauffman jokingly.

Also on the card will be cruiserweight Kamarah Pasley, 6-6 (2), of Philly who posted a win in June on the last VF show with an opponent TBA in a 4 round bout this time. A late starter to the game but always a pleasure to watch with many boxing skills.
