Each week, Gerry will answer as many of your questions as he can on the Sirius XM radio show “Friday Night at The Fights,” a show Gerry co-hosts with Randy “The Commish” Gordon, former Chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission.
The show airs every Friday on Sirius channel 92 and XM channel 208 from 6 – 8 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
Our first question comes from Russ M., who asks:
Gerry, baseball is about to suspend about 20 players, including Alex Rodriguez, for steroid use. If a sport as organized and financed as baseball can be duped, how’s a sport like boxing with no real national structure supposed to stay clean?
Our next question comes from Brad T., who asks:
Gerry, I keep hearing rumors that you have been quietly working with Tyson Fury. For once and for all, is this true?
Gerry answered the following questions on last week’s show.
Our first question came from Rocco T., who asked:
Gerry, in your era, championship fights went 15 rounds, where today, they go 12. Do you think those extra three rounds could result in different outcomes in certain fights?
Gerry feels shorter fights equates to more exciting fights because fighters don’t have to pace themselves for a 15-rounder.
Our next question came from Tony G., who asked:
Gerry, some people are talking about Carl Froch fighting Bernard Hopkins. Do you see that fight happening and who do you think would win?
Gerry feels that Bernard picks his fights very carefully and wisely. He does not think he would fight Froch.
