Ask Gerry Cooney – Jan. 31, 2014

Compiled by Allan Scotto

Hey, fans! Welcome to “Ask Gerry Cooney,” where you get to ask former heavyweight contender “Gentleman” Gerry Cooney any boxing-related question you’d like. Your questions for Gerry’s review will be featured at every Thursday morning (or in this case, a Friday edition!).

Each week, Gerry will answer as many of your questions as he can on the Sirius XM radio show “Friday Night at The Fights,” a show Gerry co-hosts with Randy “The Commish” Gordon, former Chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission.
The show airs every Friday on Sirius channel 92 and XM channel 208 from 6 - 8 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
Please submit your questions to:
Our first question comes from Neil Morton, who asks:

Gerry, I understand you have started training at a new gym in Hoboken. Are you making a comeback due to the current state of heavyweight division?

Our next question comes from Kenny D., who asks:

Gerry, what do you think of bareknuckled boxing? I hear about underground fights where they are not using gloves. Isn’t that extremely dangerous?

Gerry answered the following questions last week:
Our first question came from Jerry L., who asked:
Gerry, I thought Jean Pascal and Lucian Bute stunk out the joint! What did you think of that fight?
Gerry thought it was a terrible fight.
Our next question came from Christopher J., who asked:
Hey, Gerry, any insight as to why Keith Kizer suddenly resigned from the Nevada State Athletic Commission?
Gerry feels that Kizer simply wants to return to his life as a lawyer for the State of Nevada.
