Ask Gerry Cooney - May 9, 2014

Compiled by Allan Scotto

Hey, fans! Welcome to “Ask Gerry Cooney,” where you get to ask former heavyweight contender “Gentleman” Gerry Cooney any boxing-related question you’d like. Your questions for Gerry’s review will be featured at every Thursday morning (or in this case, Friday!).
Each week, Gerry will answer as many of your questions as he can on the Sirius XM radio show “Friday Night at The Fights,” which Gerry co-hosts with Randy “The Commish” Gordon, former Chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission.

The show airs every Friday on Sirius Sport Zone Channel 92 from 6-8 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
Please submit your questions to:
Our first question comes from Ricky T., who asks:
Gerry, this week, the WBC suspended Adrien Broner because of post-fight [after defeating Carlos Molina] comments he made. How do you feel about that?
Our next question comes from Jason M., who asks:
Gerry, based on what you saw in his fight with Luis Collazo, how do you think Amir Khan would do against the Floyd Mayweather we saw against Marcos Maidana?
Gerry answered the following questions on last week’s show:
Our first question came from Paul K., who asked:
Gerry, what did you think of the Lucas Matthysse-John Molina fight? I thought it was one of the best fights I’ve ever seen! Do you agree?
Gerry did agree that it was an extremely exciting fight to watch.
Our next question came from Terry H., who asked:
Gerry, I heard you guys discussing the Ruslan Provodnikov-Chris Algieri fight last week and I got the impression that you think Algieri may be in for a tough night. My questions are: Can Algieri win and if so, what do you think he has to do to pull off the upset?
Gerry feels that Algieri is in for a very tough fight and points out that Algieri must use his speed and boxing skills to beat Provodnikov.
