Ask Gerry Cooney - Jan. 24, 2014

Compiled by Allan Scotto

Hey, fans! Welcome to “Ask Gerry Cooney,” where you get to ask former heavyweight contender “Gentleman” Gerry Cooney any boxing-related question you’d like. Your questions for Gerry’s review will be featured at every Thursday morning (or in this case, a Friday edition!).

Each week, Gerry will answer as many of your questions as he can on the Sirius XM radio show “Friday Night at The Fights,” a show Gerry co-hosts with Randy “The Commish” Gordon, former Chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission.
The show airs every Friday on Sirius channel 92 and XM channel 208 from 6 - 8 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
Please submit your questions to:
Our first question comes from Jerry L., who asks:
Gerry, I thought Jean Pascal and Lucian Bute stunk out the joint! What did you think of that fight?
Our next question comes from Christopher J., who asks:
Hey, Gerry, any insight as to why Keith Kizer suddenly resigned from the Nevada State Athletic Commission?
Gerry answered the following questions last week:
Our first question came from Bob B., who asked:
Gerry, I’m hearing talk about a Adrien Broner-Marcos Maidana rematch. Do you see a different outcome if that happens?
Gerry thinks Broner needs to go back down in weight and that Maidana is just too strong for him.
Our next question came from Tony S., who asked:
Gerry, I understand that a documentary is being made about “Iceman” John Scully, who guided Chad Dawson to a championship. How do you feel about the “Iceman” as a trainer?
Gerry thinks the “Iceman” is an excellent trainer who has outstanding knowledge of the sport.
