Ask Gerry Cooney - Jan. 18, 2014

Compiled by Allan Scotto

Hey, fans! Welcome to “Ask Gerry Cooney,” where you get to ask former heavyweight contender “Gentleman” Gerry Cooney any boxing-related question you’d like. Your questions for Gerry’s review will be featured at every Thursday morning (or in this case, a Saturday edition!).

Each week, Gerry will answer as many of your questions as he can on the Sirius XM radio show “Friday Night at The Fights,” a show Gerry co-hosts with Randy “The Commish” Gordon, former Chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission.
The show airs every Friday on Sirius channel 92 and XM channel 208 from 6 - 8 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
Please submit your questions to:
Our first question comes from Bob B., who asks:
Gerry, I’m hearing talk about a Adrien Broner-Marcos Maidana rematch. Do you see a different outcome if that happens?
Our next question comes from Tony S., who asks:
Gerry, I understand that a documentary is being made about “Iceman” John Scully, who guided Chad Dawson to a championship. How do you feel about the “Iceman” as a trainer?
Gerry answered the following questions last week…
Our first question comes from Paul L., who asks:
Gerry, I have a chicken or the egg question for you. Does the trainer make the fighter or does the fighter make the trainer?
Gerry felt that each compliments the other.

Our next question comes from Lou M., who asks:
Gerry, if you were to make a comparison, not necessarily pound-for-pound, but based on skill, who would you say would come out as the best all-around boxer, Muhammad Ali or Floyd Mayweather?
Gerry felt that Muhammad Ali is the better all-around boxer.
