Erislandy Lara W UD 12 Austin Trout - WBA interim (now “regular”) super welterweight titleholder Erislandy Lara scores one-sided 12-round UD over Austin Trout. Lara drops Trout in round 11 to punctuate win. Speed appeared to be the factor in Lara’s favor.
Sakio Bika D 12 (retained WBC super middleweight title) Anthony Dirrell – Good scrap between two determined 168-pounders. Dirrell had Bika hurt in round five and drops him. Bika returns the favor and hurts Dirrell in round six. Gut check time, bombs away in Brooklyn. Dirrell disgusted with decision but a draw not unreasonable in this one. Can you say “rematch”?

Guillermo Rigondeaux UD 12 Joseph Agbeko-. “El Chacal” retains WBA/WBO super bantamweight titles. Technically near-perfect “Rigo” dominates “King Kong.” What do you do with an uber-talented boxer who is a tough sell in the excitement department? Get him down to Florida area for next one to draw Cuban crowd? Despite untouchable skill-set, he’s a tough sell in other markets. Promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotions has work cut out for him.
James Kirkland TKO 6 Glen Tapia- Tough night at home for “Jersey Boy” Tapia as Kirkland batters him in a war and stops him in six rounds. Trainer Ann Wolfe seems to know how to ignite Kirkland and he responded this night. Box, move and give angles to James and you are in a better spot. Stand and slug with the “Mandingo Warrior” and you are stepping into his wheelhouse. He’ll be sniffing around for a title shot ASAP in 2014.
Others of Note…
- U.K.’s Matthew “Mack the Knife” Macklin got back on the winning track after his third round title attempt stoppage loss to Gennady Golovkin earlier this year. He bested late sub Lamar Russ over 10.

- Former Philly great Eugene “Cyclone” Hart’s son Jesse Hart moves to 11-0 (10), stopping Tyrell Hendrix in 80 seconds. Jimi Hendrix might have lasted longer.

Felix Sturm TKO 2 Darren Barker- Longtime, former WBA middle king Sturm looks to show he still belongs with the 160-pound elite. Drops champ Barker twice in round two and unloads until referee Mark Nelson stops the bout. Great night for Germany’s Sturm as he wins the IBF middleweight trinket. Rematch clause may have them doing number two in England.
