Gomez Stops Proctor in Four
Undefeated super lightweight Frankie Gomez moved his record to 10-0 with 8 KOs as he stopped an unorthodox Khadaphi Proctor, 7-6-1, in the fourth round of a scheduled eight-round bout.
Proctor made the fight a complicated one, coming in with wide shots, headfirst, wrestling and anything else that could trouble Gomez, which it did, taking him out of any kind of real plan of attack. This would stop when Gomez scored a knockdown in the third round.
A spent Proctor would be pounded on against the ropes in the fourth frame, with referee Eddie Hernandez signaling the stoppage at 2:25 of the round.
In other results, welterweight Antonio Orozco, 11-0 (8), dropped Joshua Beeman, 4-10-3 (3), with a body shot early in the first round, himself getting caught at the end of the round via flash knockdown from a short, inside right to the jaw.
Orozco got back to work in the second round, working the body hard, going on to score two knockdowns in the third round. Beeman opted to sit out the count at 2:03 on the second knockdown.
Super lightweight Guadalupe Salcido won his pro debut by defeating Stephen Rubalcava, 0-5, via unanimous scores of 40-36 at the end of four.
In a women’s flyweight bout, Seniesa Estrada, 2-0, won a four-round unanimous decision against Blanca Raymundo, 0-4, in the final bout of the night. Scores were 40-36 twice and 39-37.
