Junior middleweight champion Oscar De La Hoya knows he is facing a hard-hitting and rugged fighter in Yory Boy Campas, who he faces on May 3rd in Las Vegas, but the 'Golden Boy' is the first to admit that he lacks motivation to train for this bout with a big-time rematch against rival Shane Mosley already scheduled for the fall of this year.
"It's been a long and hard camp but any fighter will say this, that sometimes it's very difficult to be motivated for a fighter like Campas," De La Hoya told reporters on a media conference call yesterday afternoon.
However, no matter how hard it is to get motivated for Campas, a former 154-pound titlist, De La Hoya says he is always ready come fight night and he never underestimates his opponent.
"I'm not going to make the mistake that Vernon Forrest made or Tim Austin made or other fighters made by taking their opponents lightly," he said. "I've trained hard and I'm taking it as a championship fight.
