EVERLAST WORLDWIDE INC. SIGNS SPORTS’ PREMIER HAND SURGEON, DR. CHARLES MELONE, AS CONSULTANT

Dr. Melone to collaborate with Everlast for development of technologically advanced products to protect boxers’ hands during training


NEW YORK, New York, February 7, 2002 -- Everlast Worldwide Inc. (Nasdaq: EVST), manufacturer, marketer and licensor of sporting goods and apparel under the Everlast brand name, today announced that the sports world’s leading hand surgeon, Dr. Charles Melone, will serve as a consultant for hand-related Everlast products.

Everlast and Dr. Melone will work together to develop technologically advanced training products that will aid in increasing the safety of fighters’ hands during training. Dr. Melone will advise on the safety of other Everlast professional equipment related to the hand. He will also assist in various activities designed to generate increased awareness of these hand-related professional products.

Dr. Melone is an orthopedic hand surgeon specializing in sports injuries to the hand and wrist, arthritis of the hand and wrist, hand and wrist fractures, scleroderma and microsurgery. He is the Chief of the Division of Hand Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center and Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1969. He has served as the hand surgery consultant for various professional and amateur sports teams, organizations and individuals, and has managed a diverse spectrum of athletic injuries. His extensive involvement in sports medicine also includes numerous regional and national lectures and a large volume of published manuscripts on hand and wrist injuries. He has been a member of the Board of Regents of Georgetown University, the Arthritis Foundation and the Scleroderma Foundation.
