March Madness for DiBella Entertainment Prospects
New York, March 6 - Lou DiBella and his staff at DiBella Entertainment in New York City are running on full throttle with a bevy of up and coming young fighters who are making their presence felt on boxing cards throughout the country.
From sites as varied as Manhattan, Pittsburgh, Tulsa, and Oroville, California, the DBE arsenal continues to excel as the company develops the champions of tomorrow. Here's a capsule of what is on the schedule for the month of March:
This Saturday night, March 9, on the undercard of Spadafora vs. Manfredy, in Pittsburgh, PA, a trio of DiBella Olympians will be in action at the A.J. Palumbo Center. Bronze medalist Clarence Vinson (5-0, 2 KO’s), fighting out of Washington, DC, will take on Shane Langford (1-3-1) in a four round bantamweight contest; Dominican super middleweight Jerson Ravelo (9-0, 6 KO’s), fighting out of Newark, faces Ted Don Muller (15-1-1, 5 KO’s) in an eight-rounder; and the Italian heavyweight bronze medalist Paolo Vidoz (8-0, 5 KO’s) is back in the states from his homeland in Gorizia to face Craig Tomlinson (22-8-1, 13 KO’s) in another eight-round contest.
March 15 will be a busy day for DBE, with three fighters appearing on three different cards across the country.
Olympic bronze medalist from Little Rock Jermain Taylor (7-0, 5 KO’s) will be back in the ring in a six-round middleweight affair against Tommy Walker (4-2-1, 2 KO’s) on March 15 at Creek Nation Tulsa Bingo in Oklahoma.
Flyweight sensation Brian Viloria (5-0, 3 KO’s) returns to the Big Apple on March 15 as "Hawaiian Punch" faces Leonardo Chucky Gutierrez (23-26, 9 KO’s) at Cipriani across the street from Grand Central Station on 42nd Street in New York City in a six-round flyweight contest on ESPN/2's Friday Night Fights; also on the card, Yuri Foreman (1-0, 1 KO), the young prospect from Israel, faces Tommy Attardo (9-7-1, 1 KO) in a four-round junior middleweight bout.
Also on March 15, at Fernwood Resort in Bushkill, PA, DBE’s newly-signed lightweight contender Juan Golo Gomez Trinidad (20-2, 13 KO’s) will square off against Arthur Cruz (16-10-2. 7 KO’s) in an eight-round junior welterweight bout.
On March 17, Philadelphia's heavyweight contender Derek Bryant (12-0, 10 KO’s) will celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the ring on a Cedric Kushner Promotions show televised by FOX Sportsnet at the Gold Country Casino in Oroville, California. In an eight round bout, Bryant will face Drexie Frank James (8-3, 4 KO’s), who is coming off of an impressive win over 2000 U.S. Olympian Michael Bennett.
Vinson fights twice in March, following his bout on the ninth, he is right back in the ring on March 21 in Glen Burnie, MD, against Hector Orozco (10-7-1, 3 KO’s) in an eight round bantamweight bout from Michael's Eighth Avenue.
Paulie Malignaggi (6-0, 3 KO’s) will entertain Long Island fight fans at the Huntington Hilton on Friday night, March 22, in the co-feature of a Winters Boxing card. The undefeated Brooklyn lightweight will fight in a six-rounder against Ryan Maraldo (13-7-1, 3 KO’s).
