In a sloppy battle of walking icebergs, former WBC cuiserweight titleholder Marcelo Dominguez beat Argentina´s most controversial heavyweight, Fabio Moli, over 12 rounds in the city of Buenos Aires.
The pair managed to entertain the crowd occasionally, either by trading punches at the slowest speeds ever seen in a boxing ring, or with their laughable antics (backhand slaps, bullfighting tricks, spoken provocations, etc.). In the end, a unanimous decision was announced in favor of Dominguez.
The score totals, as well as the main incidents of the fight, could not be annotated by this scribe due to poor lighting in the area reserved to the press, to go along with several mishaps that severely attempted against MaxBoxing.com´s ability to get the job done (improper treatment, inadequate seating, and other delicacies).
The rest of the card provided few exciting moments, with three media darlings and heavily hyped promises" (Rocky" Gimenez, Marcos Diaz and Aladin Alanis)
being awarded undeserved victories (a gift decision, an unjustified stoppage and a dubious DQ, respectively) to the delight of the promoters and the roaring disapproval of the booing crowd.
The evening card took place at the once-glorious Luna Park, a boxing landmark known around the world, now being managed by a nephew of Hall of Fame promoter Tito Lectoure, who stages occasional fight cards (most of them featuring a slew of has-been and never-will-be characters) in an apparent attempt to cash in on his uncle´s former glory.
