Davison, who trained boxing title contender Marilyn Salcido and her younger brother Dominic Salcido, a promising prizefighter, collapsed from a blood clot and passed away.
Salcido was scheduled to meet Mariana Juarez of Mexico for the IBA junior bantamweight world title on Friday at the Reno Hilton. She canceled after consulting with her manager and family.
"I was real close to Bob, he was like a father to me," said Salcido, the number four ranked 115-pounder in the world from Rialto. "It was real hard for me. I wasn't mentally prepared for a championship fight."
Davison, in his 50s, trained both Salcidos for more than three years before they parted ways two months ago. He was a noted trainer who worked out of the Kronk Gym in Big Bear.
Tony Mora, matchmaker for Greg Gulli Productions, said the title fight will be postponed and possibly moved to a Southern California location.
